Zara Plans To Bring Augmented Reality To Its Stores and Windows

The fashion chain, Zara, has announced a plan to integrate augmented reality into its stores this upcoming April. The retailer will bring the technology to 120 of its locations around the world. The two-week initiative will allow customers who have downloaded the Zara AR app to hold up their phone to certain store windows or a sensor within the store and see models come to life on their screens,– walking and even talking – wearing selected items from the Zara range. If customers like the clothing on display, they can purchase the looks through their mobile devices.

The technology will also enable models to pop up on packages of online purchases delivered to customers, showing alternative outfits.

In addition to enabling online shopping, the app features a tool for sharing the experience on social media, encouraging users to take and submit photos of the hologram models.
