Why Visual Merchandising is Important

In the fashion world, it’s all about the visuals. Most people need to see the product before they buy it and what better way to show them than with visual displays. Many retailers use window displays as their first impression of a brand to the consumer. They are known to be the key to drawing consumers into the store and the starting point of the retail experience.

An eye-catching window can determine whether a consumer enters the store or not. Visual window displays are a great way to advertise the store and showcase what the store has to offer the consumer. A well thought out and effective window can have the potential to drive sales and create a talking point for consumers and even other retailers.

There are many different methods to creating window displays. Depending on what the retailer sales or is trying to accomplish with their window can determine what method they use. For instance, if they use the line method, there are three different forms of lines.

A vertical line display is basically straight lines that represent the shortest possible route between two points. Using them in a visual display encourages the viewer to look the merchandise up and down, drawing their attention to the hole display.
