Versace! Versace! Versace!

From the runway, to the campaign, to the windows, Donatella Versace created a touching tribute collection to her brother Gianni Versace. To mark the 20th anniversary of her brother Gianni Versace’’s death, Donatella sent out a parade of looks inspired by Gianni’s most iconic creations. Donatella showed through words, music, casting, and design —some of the reasons she adored and admired her late brother. She wanted to celebrate Gianni’’s inspirations and creations, to celebrate “a genius, an icon, my brother.” She pulled directly from archives the key prints and pieces from the years 1991-19–95, the period that saw some of Gianni Versace’s most iconic collections: Vogue, Warhol, My Friend Elton, Icons, Baroque, Animalia, Native Americans, Tresor de la Mer, Metal Mesh, and Butterflies. From each of these iconic print motifs, Donatella Versace remade and reinterpreted the blouses, square-shouldered jackets, leggings, catsuits, corsets, trenches, mini sheaths, and maxi skirts.

For the finale, the Versace Spring 2018 show featured some of Gianni’s favorite supermodels from the early ’90s including Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, and Carla Bruni.

Following the epic reunion of 90s supermodels on Versace’s Spring 2018 runway, the brand has enlisted some of the most iconic models of the past three decades for its spring campaign, lensed by the legendary Steven Meisel.

Following suit, La Rinascente in Milan is showing all of the people who came to the city for Milan Fashion Week these spectacular windows with these master pieces of the iconic tribute collection.

Gianni’s beloved Baroque and vivid yellow colors takes over these windows.

The Vogue print, created in collaboration with Vogue, first appeared on the runway in Gianni’s SS 1991 collection as a representation of the influence of media in fashion and culture.

The Pop Art Print shown here is inspired by Gianni Versace’s SS ’91 collection that broke the barriers between art and contemporary fashion.
