Last month when Tesla announced a cheaper version of Tesla Model 3, it also said that retail stores will be shut down to maintain financial sustainability. Now, the self-driving car maker company has backtracked its decision and has announced that it will keep the store functional and will increase the prices of its car by 3%.
The recently announced Tesla Model 3 has been exempted from the price rise. However, Tesla Model 3s, Model S and Model X will become more expensive for customers. The announcement post said that the decision to keep stores open has been made after two-week long evaluation of every single Tesla retail location.
Tesla recently shut down 10% of its offline stores which the company has justified by saying that these stores weren’t inviting natural foot traffic and “would have closed anyway.”
Additionally, Tesla also announced that some of the stores that it closed in high visibility locations will be reopened, but these stores will have a smaller Tesla crew.
Customers who are interested in purchasing a Tesla car will have a week to place an order on current prices. Prices will not be increased until March 18th.
