A major survey exhibition by Takashi Murakami, titled “MURAKAMI vs MURAKAMI” has opened at Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong.
The exhibition explores the multifaceted universe of the superstar artist. The sprawling show encompasses the extremes of the artist’s oeuvre — “from his large-scale post-apocalyptic works to his optimistic flower pieces, and then to his contemplative Enso paintings, offering Buddhist visions of enlightenment.”
It’s your first chance to catch some of Murakami’s outlandish costume designs, which are exhibited alongside significant video works and works from his own private collection. Browse through the gallery to see how curators Tobias Berger and Gunnar B. Kvaran have integrated works from throughout his career with his spectacular wall and floor art.
The exhibition concludes with a special pop-up store where visitors can purchase their own neon and wallpaper works by Murakami.
