Shop local, sustainable goods – Soapbox Cincinnati

Local makers and entrepreneurs collaborate to create the third Downtown Cincy Holiday Pop Shop, located at 639 Main Street along the Cincinnati Bell connector, and offers a place to shop sustainably and locally this holiday.

The all-women run pop shop, presented by Downtown Cincinnati Inc. as part of the Retail Action Plan for Central Business District in 2016, brings more diversity to downtown shopping.

The pop shop opened November 16 and features Down to Mars Vintage, For Your Love of Art, The Green Store, and Supernova Soaks.

Furnished by Algin Retro, sellers of mid-century modern and contemporary furnishings, with interior design by NOVE home&body décor, the shop is truly a multifaceted collaboration with local creativity in every corner.

For those striving to gift responsibly this season, the pop shop is an opportunity to buy local and sustainable products including vintage clothes, bath bombs and foot soaks, green products, and local art.

Rose Emory of For Your Love of Art brings local and national art focusing on African-American images, while Joi Sears, owner of The Green Store, provides “ecofriendly, beautifully designed, and purpose-driven holiday gifts.”

“During the holidays, the amount of trash produced in the U.S. increases by 25 percent,” says Sears. “The Green Store aims to help visitors incorporate sustainability into their everyday lives.”

Supernova Soaks offers ecofriendly bath therapies made from homeopathic oatmeal and herbal remedies with DoTerra essential oils.

“This winter, Supernova Soaks will also be providing essential oil samples, aromatherapy tools, as well as other bath products,” says owner Carling Andrews.
