Dior Spring-Summer 2023 - Fashion Show
The Dior Spring-Summer 2023 collection is inspired by Joséphine Baker, the African-American singer and dancer who became a cultural icon in Paris in the 1920s. The collection celebrates black and mixed-race women who broke racial barriers. Renowned artist Mickalene Thomas contributed paintings that depict a new pantheon of women, highlighting their empowerment and individuality. The Duggal team, led by Sr. Account Executive Carole Garcia, collaborated with Bureau Betak Paris and Thomas’s studio to bring the artwork to life. Over forty large prints were created using eco-friendly, fire-retardant materials and high-resolution dye sublimation printing on poly duck fabric. The prints were then sent to India for hand embroidery with sequins to reflect the shimmering quality of the Dior collection. Collaborator: Bureau Betak
