John Elliott‘s Californian-cool clothing has developed from effortless denim and hoodies into a progressive blend of athletic inspiration and menswear staples. As the brand grows in size and scale, it’s fitting that Elliott’s label is launching a store adjacent to LA, where the designer initially introduced his covetable collections of zippered hoodies and torn denim.
The 3,500 square-foot space is Elliott’s first flagship store, updating industrial elements with a contemporary edge. Steel frames set atop concrete blocks are showered in light provided by Japanese-style lightboxes, neon green hangers providing a pop of color against the muted interior. In the rear, a Japanese garden highlights exclusively-sourced bamboo ideal for California weather, lending an organic edge to the sneakers and other footwear on display. Embedded into the space’s glass benches are swatches of raw textiles from the seasonal collections, highlighting the craft that informs Elliott’s garments.
“For us, opening a store has been an introspective experience and awareness activity,” Elliott said in a statement. Coinciding with the opening of the shop, Elliot’s team will move its corporate offices to the space directly above the first-floor retail experience. “We are intentionally prioritizing the connection to our first store space. Our business is still largely direct-to-consumer, and for us that has been only online thus far. We look forward to really being able to get to know our customers.”
