“Hermès – outside of the walls” arrives in Rome

Since 2011, Hermès has been traveling around the main cities in the world with the initiative of “Festival des Métiers” or “Festival of the craftsmanship”. After visiting 34 cities around the world including London, New York, and Paris between 2011 and 2015, it was renamed “Hermès hors les murs,” or “Hermès outside of the walls” in English. Now, they arrive in Rome at the Museum Dell’Ara Pacis, with this fascinating experience.

When we know more about craftsmanship, allows us to understand the true meaning of the word “craftsman” and to capture the proper actions of the trade. We are able to appreciate the extra value of these products almost handmade, and what is the luxurious value of the artesian’s work. In order to inform more about this to the public, the French brand has brought ten of their most talented artist, to show and share their know-how, leaving clear why the house is one of the favorites for their iconic leather bags and their incomparable silk scarfs, famous since 1937.

The visit is divided into ten modules. The visitors can admire how the artist work in each piece and how they transform the materials to create bags, saddles, scarfs, ties, jewelry, watches, gloves and porcelain. The artisans will tell, answer questions and share with the public the excellence techniques characteristic of all Hermès métier.

Thanks to the virtual reality of a 360 ° movie, visitors will also discover the secrets of the master craftsmen of the glassware Saint-Louis, Maison founded in 1586 and acquired by Hermès in 1989.

Running through March 16, the Hermès experience continues to support the luxury house’s efforts to introduce its artisans to the public and the high value of their products compared to the massive production. Hermès counts with more than 4,500 craftspeople out of a total of 13,700 employees worldwide.
