Helzberg Diamonds Helps Store Customers Trial Rings In AR – PSFK

Helzberg Diamonds is using augmented reality to help shoppers preview engagement rings. The company’s Virtual Ring Experience is an in-store AR-enabled screen that allows customers to virtually trial many different jewelry styles to get a better idea of their ideal choice.

The stations are equipped with motion sensors and a palm rest so shoppers can see the ring from multiple angles. The Helzberg Virtual Ring Experience even lets shoppers snap a picture of their favorite choice and share it on social media or through email. Currently, the Helzberg Virtual Ring Experience is only available in its seven next-generation stores, but Helzberg has plans to double the AR capability throughout this year.

“Some [customers] know exactly what they want, while others want to explore an endless aisle of possibilities from the size and shape of a diamond or gemstone, to the metal type, to the setting style,” explains Beryl Raff, chairwoman and CEO of Helzberg Diamonds. “Understanding that online shopping often serves as the ‘front door’ to our retail stores helped us develop our next generation digital store concept. The new technology…creates a natural bridge between the online and in-store customer experience.”
