From modernist painters and architects to its female patronesses of art, Vienna, Austria was a city bursting with creativity during the dawn of last century. That’s why, 100 years later, Akris Creative Director Albert Kriemler reflected on  these groundbreaking women to inspire his new Fall-Winter 2018 collection. 

 

“It is the spirit of freedom, functionalism, and self-expression combined with a passion for the most refined materials and strong, sensual colors,” Kriemler says. “These women were so ahead of their time, they were like they came from the future.”

 

Nods to Vienna and its cultural innovators abound throughout the collection. Tile patchwork coats evoke marble slabs, suiting in exceptional denim hues reflect archival Urban Zoning Blueprints, and our elegant chiffon dress in Malachite print is a love letter to the favorite mineral stone of Viennese architects like Otto Wagner. Pair any ensemble with one of our iconic Ai or Anouk bags for a thoroughly stylish look this fall.
