Aesthetically and otherwise, the Beverly Hills Hotel (sometimes referred to as the Pink Palace) is one of the most iconic destinations there is. And its glamorous pool — with its oft-copied pink cabanas, striped loungers, banana-leaf printed murals and umbrellas and lush greenery, all in that signature pink-and-green palette — is a major reason why. So it feels like a pretty big deal that the hotel gave a fashion brand carte blanche (or, perhaps more accurately, carte rose?) to transform all of it. Of course, it’s not just any brand: It’s Dior.
Last Friday morning, Beverly Hills Hotel guests woke up to find the entire pool area transformed overnight in honor of Dior’s latest Dioriviera capsule, an assortment of summer-ready apparel and accessories — much of which comes in a pink-and-grey color palette, including a signature toile de Jouy print. (The brand used said print to replace every pool lounger, umbrella and cabana curtain throughout the space.) The redesign also highlights a newly erected poolside “Le Jardin des Rêves” spa cabana only available to hotel guests, who can choose from four (two facial, two body) treatments incorporating Dior Beauty skin-care products.
Overlooking the pool area, the brand built a pink-carpeted Dioriviera pop-up shop designed to feel like a “mesmerizing sandcastle,” in which animals and Lady Dior bags alike appear to be emerging from mountains of sand.
There, guests can purchase dresses, bikinis and handbags in the toile de Jouy print, as well as exclusive items including a Book Tote where the words “Christian Dior” are replaced with “Beverly Hills.” I stopped by shortly after it opened Friday afternoon, and a sales associate noted they’d already sold one — given the tax bracket one must be in to afford a room (or, to be honest, even a lunch) at the Beverly Hills Hotel, I’m sure those impulse purchases will keep on coming throughout the summer.
Dior has previously staged Dioriviera pop-ups at the Rosewood Miramar in Montecito, Calif. and Gurney’s in Montauk, New York. The French luxury house had big shoes to fill when it came to taking on this particularly historic Los Angeles landmark, but we think the brand did it justice. I can’t imagine hotel guests or anyone passing up a chance to hang out at this pool, Dior-ified or not.
The Dioriviera pop-up is open through Sept. 4. See more images of the space below.
