Dior Reveals Holiday Windows Inspired By The 2018 Cruise Show

Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of the women’s lines, has designed a collection that features elements from the Motherpeace tarot, created by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble in the 1970s. Fortune-telling and tarot have deep roots in the House’’s heritage, and Maria Grazia Chiuri brought that colorful magic to bear not only in the collection, but also in the current holiday windows. The 2018 Cruise collection, explores ancient art, prehistory, goddess and tribal cultures from around the globe through a feminist perspective.

In this season’s holiday window displays, Dior features decorations inspired by the cruise 2018 show: several colorful hot air balloons decorated with illustrations from the Motherpeace tarot devised by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble in the 1970s. One of the balloons features the colorful ‘Swords’ card, in a nod to Monsieur Dior’s lucky star and one of the House’’s key codes: the bee. Another card illustrated on the hot air balloon is ‘The Judgement’, also known as an awakening, and a source of great and positive change with an Egyptian Ankh in a rainbow of color, which symbolizes unconditional love and peace.
