Designers and Models Design White Shirts to Honour Karl Lagerfeld

From Kate Moss to Diane Kruger, 50 participants pay tribute to the designer’s favourite wardrobe staple

“If you ask me what I’d most like to have invented in fashion, I’d say the white shirt … Everything else comes after,” Karl Lagerfeld once said.

In homage to the legendary designer, who died this February, 50 designers, models, and friends were invited to create a white shirt, which went on display last night as part of Paris Fashion Week.

Titled A Tribute to Karl: The White Shirt Project, participants including Alessandro MicheleSoo Joo Park, and Helen Mirren created bespoke pieces inspired by their personal memories of the German designer. As well as this, seven shirts by the likes of Cara Delevingne, Diane Kruger, and Kate Moss have been replicated 77 times and are available to purchase for $777 (seven was Lagerfeld’s favourite number).

Selected pieces will form part of a travelling exhibition which will tour Karl Lagerfeld stores around the world. The proceeds from the project will be donated to a medical research charity.
