Not all of us are able to be home for the holidays, but Coach is making sure to bring that feeling of warmth and comfort to all of us. Benoit Tordeur, the DVP of Visual Experience for Coach in the Americas, said their inspiration for the holidays this year is “taking you back to your childhood, that holiday morning and what you see when you come down the stairs.”
Helping us be in touch with our inner child. Coach tends to take a more whimsical and abstract approach to Christmas, but this year, they truly wanted to highlight the beauty of a traditional Christmas morning.
Everything that comes to mind when you hear the word Christmas is precisely what Coach is bringing to their stores. Not only the beautiful shades of red, green, and yellow but the nutcrackers, gingerbread men, candy canes, bells, snowmen, and trees are all brought together to make a heartwarming experience. Proving to us that stripping it down at times is the way to go. After all of the ups and downs that we have all endured throughout the past couple of years, we cannot think of a better way to embrace Christmas.
Drawing inspiration from Disney, where things do not make sense but feel magical nonetheless. “That bow does not belong on that box, right? But that is why it belongs there”, Giovanni Zaccariello, the SVP of Visual Experience at Coach, explained. All the way from the. bows on their boxes, to their snowman, to their beautiful Christmas tree, everything is oversized. Just like Christmas bringing oversized amounts of joy. “Even in the actual tree itself, you will see it is very oversized in scale compared to a normal-sized tree, making it Coach,” Joanna Roopchand, the Design Director for Visual Experience at Coach, explained. Although they went the traditional route this year, they never let go of their Coach sparkle and sparked joy in our hearts.
Everyone’s favorite dinosaur, Rexy, is gaining a new bestie for the holidays at the New York City flagship store; Frosty the Coach Snowman. They truly go above and beyond with their details, not only with a personalized scarf for the snowman in which you can see their iconic horse and carriage but down to the print on all of their wrapping paper across their stores. If you look closely, you will always find Coach Cs; in their candy canes, bells, gingerbread men, and, of course, as the star of their trees.
Last year for the 2021 holidays, they filled their stores with the cutest little wintery animals. There were owls, foxes, birds, penguins, bears, and more, all dressed in their proper winter attire. They brought so many people joy, and Coach, as promised, will not be simply disposing of them. Coach is not only saying they want to make a difference and help our environment but finding ways to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. All of these animals will be debuting in the Coach outlet stores this holiday season. “We take it seriously; saving the planet. We are going to auction all of the animals after the holiday season. We build with the future in mind,” Giovanni expressed to us.
