Chanel is launching an official store on Tmall in September and the pre-sale will start from July 5. The French brand will be selling fragrance, skin care and cosmetic products on Alibaba’s business-to-consumer platform.
The Alibaba-owned platform’s heft could help Chanel to overtake Louis Vuitton as the biggest luxury brand by sales in the Chinese market. Chanel reported stellar growth for the Asia-Pacific region over the course of 2018, attributing its 10.5 percent sales growth to a boom in this market.
