One year ago Hedi Slimane took over Celine, after all the criticism about the new concept that the brand has been going through, it looks like he is going on the right track or at least that is what the sales say. Now, he is also putting his statement and aesthetic in the interior of the stores.
Since the launch, a new architectural design concept for its retail locations worldwide debuted. Starting with a new storefront at 650 Madison Avenue in New York City. Featuring a design conceived by the brand’s creative director, Hedi Slimane, the boutique’s 5000 square foot layout (Celine’s largest location to date) highlights the juxtaposition of natural materials and a balanced and expansive sculptural interior.
Celine confirms that future stores will feature commissioned artworks relevant to the locations. The selected artists include Jose Davila, Oscar Tuazon, Elaine Cameron Weir, and James Balmforth.
The brand plans to open future stores for menswear collection exclusively and following the launch on Madison Avenue, Celine will extend the design concept, to other stores including Los Angeles, Paris, Milan, London, Shanghai, Beijing, and Tokyo.
