Since 1948, Bulgari’s stylish sinuous Serpenti coils have been embedded in the house’s legacy – first appearing in the form of watches, crafted with the Tubogas technique.
Beloved by arguably the most recognizable jewelry connoisseur, actress Elizabeth Taylor, Bulgari launched the Serpenti into another level of fame. In 1962 while filming “Cleopatra” at Cinecittà, the movie studio in Rome, Ms. Taylor bought a Serpenti watch in Bulgari’s boutique in Rome, Mr. Buonamassa Stigliani said. The actress was married to Eddie Fisher but romantically linked with Richard Burton, her co-star — a scandal that fueled the public’s awareness of Bulgari and its snake.
