I dunno if you’ve heard, but the final episodes of a little TV show called Game of Thrones start soon. And AT&T is getting in on the promotional action.
The telecom giant is running a series of fan-focused campaigns ahead of the highly anticipated final season, premiering Sunday, April 14, on HBO.
“This is the biggest television event in recent history, in large part due to the show’s passionate, loyal, and committed fan base,” Valerie Vargas, AT&T’s senior vice president of advertising and creative services, said in a statement.
“In celebration of that fandom, and as fans ourselves,” she continued, “we have created unique experiences across all of our platforms that only AT&T and HBO can offer.”

A physical chair upon which the King of the Andals and the First Men sits, the Iron Throne is a metonym, referring to the monarchy that rules the Seven Kingdoms. But who will claim the throne once and for all?

“There’s no better way to celebrate the finale of this epic HBO show than to give its devoted, passionate fans opportunities to immerse themselves in the Game of Thrones world leading into the final season,” according to Zach Enterlin, executive vice president of program marketing at HBO. “We are committed to giving superfans a fun, memorable way to experience Westeros and the characters they love so much.”
Flagship AT&T locations across the country have transformed into the familiar world of Game of Thrones, featuring limited-reveal video content, custom digital games, and virtual and augmented reality experiences.
Some stores even offer an exclusive look at memorabilia and costumes from different GoT houses: House Stark (Chicago), House Lannister (New York City), House Targaryen (San Francisco), and the warring Targaryens vs. Lannisters (Boston).
Visitors can even confront a White Walker “and lead the fight for the living” in Magic Leap VR game “The Dead Must Die,” available at Chicago’s Michigan Avenue shop on Wednesday (April 3), and 1 Powell St. in San Francisco this Saturday (April 6).
