The retail heart of Gregory Hills has come to life with hundreds of residents celebrating the grand opening of Gregory Hills Town Centre today.
The $30 million shopping precinct opened its doors for the first time at 8.30am, unveiling a “next generation” Woolworths supermarket and speciality stores.

“It was a massive grand opening,” he said. “The car park was full, there was people everywhere, it was just fantastic.
“There was just a real party atmosphere.”
Students from St Gregory’s College choir performed and students from St Benedict’s Catholic College performed the national anthem.
Celebrations are scheduled to continue across the weekend, including face painting, balloon shaping, creative workshops and even a guest appearance from Batman and the Ice Princess.
Woolworths officially unveiled its brand new supermarket experience, with a focus on fresh food and convenience.
Gregory Hills store manager Laura Naughton said it was a thrill to open just days before the Easter school holidays.
“We’re proud to open this next generation store and will work hard to set a new standard in fresh food shopping for customers in southwest Sydney,” she said.
“The store will provide local customers with a fantastic fresh offer and a whole new level of convenience to help make shopping easier.
“This includes our ‘Drive Up’ service, which sees team members hand-pick online orders in the store to place directly in a customer’s boot in dedicated car park bays to the side of the store.”
The supermarket has a number of sustainability initiatives and features, including being one of the first in Sydney to receive orders from an electric truck.
The store has employed about 120 people.
