3D garment simulation specialist CLO Virtual Fashion has unveiled a ‘smart mirror’ that enables consumers to virtually try-on clothing without getting undressed.
The AR Smart Mirror integrates the company’s ‘BeneFit-by-CLO’ 3D avatar creation and virtual fitting application programming interface (API) with electronics company LG’s touch screen signage and automatic body scanning technology using a 3D camera.
The technology automatically scans consumers’ bodies before a customised avatar is generated in real time through Artificial Intelligence (AI). Based on the body data of the user’s avatar, AR Smart Mirror recommends the right sizing for clothes created in 3D, and users can accurately check fit by looking at the fit maps in real time.
Consumers can also purchase clothes online directly on AR Smart Mirror, which was launched last month at the CES 2019 consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.
“With collaboration with partner companies, we will make a new platform which will change the online/offline fashion retail paradigm with LG’s body scanning and augmented reality technologies,” said Cho Taeg-il, head of LG’s Convergence Center.
