Best Interactive Experience to WindowsWear Awards 2018

In Windowswear, we appreciate how creative the companies are doing all different kind of activities in order to engage the public with the brand. Nowadays, the windows displays are not just to admire and showcase the creativity of the designers, you can also interact, play and even win prizes with them, and these were the brands that really did a great job thinking out of the box in 2018.

Macy’s

They have been pioneers from the beginning, it was the first department store to feature Christmas window displays since 1874, and holiday windows are their specialty. The first animated windows appeared in 1899.

This year, six of Macy’s windows followed the adventures of the astronaut Sunny as she travels with her friends, through space, to save Christmas. Their adventures were from the Earth to the stars as they tried to catch up to Santa’s magic sleigh. The Believe in the Wonder of Giving display even featured an interactive video game where spectators were able to steer Sunny through space.

Mulberry

Last November, Mulberry had a great light experience in their main store of Regent Street in London. The installation it was started a pop-up light installation, drinks, and live music, where people were able to interact with lights, shadows, shapes and all kind of cool stuff where people took pictures and posted on the social media putting a Mulberry in the spotlight.

For the in-store experience, a smart vending machine is designed to reward participation, amplify social engagement and capture data. The experience invited users to share their lights-inspired images with the hashtag #MulberryLights in order to gain instant access to the prizes stored.

The machine verified that the social media share has taken place on either Instagram or Twitter, and then invited users to interact in a bespoke gaming experience through its digital portal, before rewarding them for taking part. Each day, one player won the top prize of a £1,000 gift card.

Bloomingdales

This past holiday season, the windows of Bloomingdales draw inspiration from the Grinch’s story and illustrated his journey from holiday hater to merry maker. In some windows, music lovers pressed buttons with the Grinch’s trusted canine companion, Max. These knobs played sounds coming from the Grinch’s snazzy organ. In the same window, there was also a telescope popping out of the glass which viewers were able to look through to see what’s up in Whoville.

As the story unfolded along Lexington Avenue, onlookers were taken to the cheerful town of Whoville with interactive elements and visually stunning displays inspired by the movie immersed passersby in the spirit of the holidays and the redemptive power of kindness that the film portrays.
