Stratacache debuts VR retail technology – Dayton Daily News

Another Dayton-area company is entering the arena of Virtual Reality (VR) shopping.

Dayton-based Stratacache announced it will its debut VR shopping technology at the National Retail Federation’ expo this week in New York City.

The technology combines the NVIDIA Holodeck platform with Stratacache digital signage to create an experience that “brings people together to build and explore creations in a highly realistic, collaborative and physically simulated VR environment,” Stratacache said in a release.

The technology lets retailers bring design experiences to stores, with a blend of VR hardware and digital signage, giving retailers and customers what the local company called “a white-glove experience of a high-end purchase, allowing the shopper to work with the collective expertise of multiple designers, no matter their location.

“The experience itself, as well as its components, can be scaled for multiple brick-and-mortar locations, and the inclusion of large-format displays attract and engage additional shoppers in the store,” Stratacache said.

“We’re reaching beyond the horizon of which technologies retailers can use to draw shoppers into, while adding relevancy and value to, the brick-and-mortar store,” Chris Riegel, chief executive of Stratacache, said in the company’s announcement.

Miami Twp.-based Marxent is well launched on its own VR shopping partnership with Macy’s and other customers. In fact, the company is considered a leader in augmented reality and VR for furniture and home decor retailers.
