BOSTON – Cylindo, a 3D furniture visualization platform, has completed a new funding round to invest further in automation and create immersive 3D experiences.
“Online retail sales, including home furnishings, are growing by double digits yearly,” said Janus Jagd, Cylindo’s CEO. “It’s predicted that e-commerce will account for $294 billion in furniture sales by 2022, and soon experience will overtake price and product as a key brand differentiator. The most important thing you need to sell your product online is being able to visualize it.”
Existing investors led the funding round, including Commerce VC, LiteCap and David Helgason, as well as new investors who are all successful technology entrepreneurs including; Peter Hartzbech, the founder of iMotions; Jens Karstoft, the founder of Zmags; Oliver Kofoed Pedersen, the founder of Playerscale; Christian Legene, the founder of Autobutler; and Mike Buckley, a former vice president at Facebook.
“Cylindo has built great technology that’s solving a big pain point, and it’s becoming an essential part of any online retailer’s go-to-market,” said Buckley. “It has a strong product and team, a clear vision on how to scale the platform, and is well-positioned to become the market leader for product visualization.”
Product visualization has been one of the biggest pain points for bridging the online-offline customer experience gap, according to Jagd.
“Top 100 retailers such as Ethan Allen and Living Spaces, brands such as Century Furniture and Ligne Roset, and online-first players such as Interior Define are all using the Cylindo platform to visualize an unlimited number of product variations,” said Jagd.
Cylindo’s company research indicates that there’s still a huge underserved market, which is why Jagd says it will invest in automating the content creation technology further to keep up with the demand. Cylindo will soon be expanding with a plug-and-play augmented reality feature to address the online customer experience across various interfaces and platforms – product feeds, cart thumbs, augmented reality apps and marketplaces.
“The goal is to create a consistent shopping experience at every touchpoint,” said Jagd.
