Judges said Primark was “simply spot on” and had “excellent stores, a clear marketing strategy and a product offering that is perfect for its customer base.”

The glittering 28th annual ceremony, hosted by comedian Russell Kane, took place at Camden’s Roundhouse in London on 29 November.

The award for Best Store Design under 50,000 sq ft, went to The Shop at Bluebird for its Covent Garden store.

John Lewis & Partners, meanwhile, picked up Best Store Design over 50,000 sq ft for its Westfield, London department store in White City.

German etailer Zalando won Best Place to Work, while Lipsy was highly commended in this category. Judges praised Zalando’s ability to retain its company ethos despite its size, encouraging an entrepreneurial spirit, new ideas and giving multiple opportunities to learn new skills.

Best Fashion Marketing Campaign went to MissPap, for its The Living Wage Wardrobe campaign, which judges said was “clever, unique and demonstrated a clear understanding of their customer.”

The award for Best Innovation in Fashion Retail, sponsored by Seko, was awarded to Fashion Concierge.

Fashion Retail Business of the Year (£30-£100m turnover) went to JoJo Maman Bébé, while Joules picked up the award for Fashion Retail Business of the Year (£101-£500m turnover), sponsored by Clipper Logistics.

In the branded categories, Mainstream Brand of the Year went to Barbour International; Young Fashion Brand of the Year, sponsored by Harveen Gill Associates, was won by Gym King; and Premium Brand of the Year, sponsored by Torque, went to Rixo London.

Accessories Brand of the Year was picked up by Knomo, while Skinnydip London was highly commended.

Lingerie Brand of the Year went to Bluebella, while Spanx was highly commended.

TCA Showroom won Agency/Distributor of the Year. Judges said its impressive testimonials told a “really compelling story, making it a clear winner”.

Fashion Supplier of the Year was won by Carmel Clothing.

H&M won the Sustainability Award of the Year, sponsored by Lenzing Group. Judges said H&M’s sustainability strategy is “fully embedded into the business” and it had to be recognised for delivering great progress against ambitious targets in its sector.

Shopping Centre of the Year was awarded to Kilver Court Designer Village and International Fashion Retailer of the Year, sponsored by OCS Worldwide, was Quiz Clothing.

Marks & Spencer picked up the award for Best Retailer: Consumer Choice.

Fashion Leader of the Year, sponsored by Allport Cargo Services, was won by co-founders of Boohoo Group Carol Kane and Mahmud Kamani and the award for Lifetime Achievement was given to retail veteran Stuart Rose.
