In celebration the 2024 WindowsWear Awards, we asked 80 diverse creatives to delve into the genesis of their imaginative journeys. Creativity, at its core, is the capacity to conceive original and valuable ideas, transcending established boundaries and thinking out of the box.
What does creativity mean to you?
The ability to see things in a different way.
How do you approach creativity every day?
Rethinking through an idea or concept from the previous day/week. Looking at different ways to expand the possibilities of creative alternatives.
Where do you find your creativity?
I pull inspiration from many sources: performances, installations, art, design, fashion. Visiting galleries and museums is part of my weekly routine. Travel is also very important; seeing new places and experiencing different cultures can be quite inspirational and helps to open my mind.
What advice would you give to someone looking to cultivate their creativity?
Constant research – keep yourself fresh; read, listen to podcasts, learn new techniques. Ongoing education, continue to develop your skill set; stay current. Be open to opportunity, experiences, and inspirations; you can learn something from everyone you meet and most things that you see. Sit with an idea, let it percolate.
