If you didn’t know that Warner Bros. released their summer blockbuster, Ocean’s 8, in theaters on June 8, you may be living under a rock.
But what you may not know is that French luxury jeweler Cartier was partnered with the heist comedy film to recreate a famous necklace in their high-jewelry workshop in Paris.
This necklace and other opulent pieces from the film were on display at the historic Cartier Mansion on Fifth Avenue to celebrate the opening of the film. The exhibition was very Ocean’s 8 themed, with vaults in the window that look as if they had been broken into.

The necklace Cartier recreated was the only piece made specifically for the film. Named after Cartier’s creative director in the 1930s, the Jeanne Toussaint necklace is a cinematic replica of the original piece.
In 1931, Jacques Cartier designed the original necklace for the Maharaja of Nawanagar. That piece does not exist anymore, but luckily Cartier had photos and sketches from which they based the replica.

The Toussaint is set in white gold with cubic zirconia stones, as authentic diamonds would have been too expensive and taken too long to acquire. Time is always an obstacle, and while high-jewelry pieces can take years to complete from start to finish, Cartier had only 2 months to craft the cinematic replica that was worn by Anne Hathaway in the film.
