Fendi has been the star in some of the most fabulous movies of all times, perhaps you didn’t know until now. How can we forget some of the most iconic imagery in cinematic history, like Madonna wearing a light brown, demi buff mink fur as Evita or Gwyneth Paltrow with a toffee, demi buff mink trench coat with a tie belt as Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums?
From the fur coats that Meryl Streep wore as Miranda Presley in Devil Wears Prada to Tilda Swinton as Madame D in The Grand Budapest Hotel; you can find at the exhibition the famous bags that Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City exclaimed love for, when she said: “I’m homeless! I’m gonna be a bag lady! A Fendi bag lady, but a bag lady!”
At the Palazzo, which has been divided into different cinema studios for the exhibition, you can find the persistent influence of the brand among costume designers and producers such as Sex and the City’s Patricia Field, Evita’s Penny Rose, and Karen Patch of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
The exhibition invites you to enter the glamorous world of cinema and fashion where you can interact and reinvent movie scenes, while discovering Fendis iconic pieces all at once. The Palazzo also includes a full-fledged projection room that screens a selection of movies that retrace the remarkable relationship between Fendi and the world of cinema. They include the following: The Legend of 1900, Once Upon a Time in America, The Age of Innocence, And the Ship Sails On, Evita, and The Devil Wears Prada. You can also catch a film that is dedicated to the brands relationship with Hollywood.
This exhibition opens with free admission from October 27th, 2017 to March 25th, 2018 at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the Roman brand’s global headquarters. It shows some of the Fendi’s fur coats and handbags that Hollywood costume designers have chosen for years.
